Ludwig III Thaler Box: Obverse shows the profile of King Ludwig III, reverse has the Bavarian Coat-of-Arms, the Bavarian motto "In Treue Fest," the bottom says "Bayern Thaler 1914/16." The Mark replaced the Thaler when the German States unified in 1871. The Thaler Box comes apart in two halves. Missing is four fold out strips with possibly forty picture discs of German royalty, generals, and soldiers in combat. The missing pictures may be worth as much as or more than the box. A complete boxed set runs $150-250. Silver plated metal box, 53 x 10 mm, nicely toned, light wear.
