Description

Fallschirm-Schützen-Abzeichen (FSA des Heeres) - Army Parachutist Badge: Type 3, struck in 1943-44 for the Brandenburg 15th Fallschirm Kompanie, the Fallschirm-Jäger-Bataillon, and only a few men of the 500th SS-Fallschirm-Jäger-Bataillon. A beautiful vualted mid war zinc badge, gold plated wreath, nicely silvered eagle, soldered barrel hinge and soldered round stock catch, 55 x 43 mm, 27.7 gm, unmarked C.E. Juncker, extremely scarce. Only 1500 type 3 badges were struck and only a few hundred are estimated to have survived the war. Obverse is mint, reverse shows light oxidation to eagle and moderate oxidation to the wreath by the rivets, probably caused by rubbing while affixed to the tunic.
