Description
The Historic Market Place of Hildesheim was considered one of the most beautiful market places in the world. During World War II, Hildesheim suffered severe bomb damage. All the half-timbered houses of the market place were destroyed by incendiary bombs on March 22,1945. The world famous Butchers' Guild Hall built in 1529, the smaller adjoining Bakers' Guild Hall built in 1825 (both pictured on the badge), and the watchman fountain from 1542 were reconstructed in 1989.
